Dave Barkley is the Director of the E.I. Shot Peening Training division of Electronics Inc. (E.I.). Dave earned a degree in engineering from Purdue University’s School of Technology where he later taught as an adjunct professor in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments.
Dave began working for Electronics Inc. in 1987 with duties including regional training and product documentation. He left E.l. to work as an Electrical Control Engineer for an associate company but returned in 2003 to serve as a Product Engineer and Engineering Manager. He began teaching the peening process for E.I. in 2006 and became the training director in 2008.
Dave currently oversees all aspects of the seminars and on-site training sessions while continuing to conduct classes in fundamental and specialized peening processes around the world. His many years of teaching the peening process and helping people in the industry was recognized when he was awarded the Shot Peener of the Year honor in October 2020.
He is an active member of the SAE Surface Enhancement Committee which maintains industry specifications for Shot Peening and Rotary-Flap Peening processes. He has sponsored SAE: J442, J443, and AMS2590. Dave is also an FAA FAASTeam Representative specializing in shot peening education.
